      Bristol Urban Sport

      22 May 2012 - 9 September 2012
      Free Exhibition

Coinciding with the arrival of the Olympic torch into the city, Bristol Urban Sport explores the relationship between the fabric of the city and sport over the last 200 years. The exhibition reveals how the people of Bristol have manipulated both the natural landscape and man-made architecture for sporting activity. Displays of photography, memorabilia, objects and film give focus to four themes...

Personal Expression looks at how individuals challenge the structure of Bristol's Cityscape, finding new perspectives through sport.

Bristol Sporting Events places the spotlight on past and present events that grasp the imagination of people and make the city pause.

Our Sporting Places examines how individuals or groups have been able to shape Bristol land to create their very own sporting venue.

My Sporting Community discusses the way grassroots sports and clubs can bring neighbourhoods in Bristol together.

An exciting programme of events, talks and family activities will run alongside the exhibition.

Activities will include dance, keep fit, interactive games and a kite-making workshop. Look out too for the running track, mini ramps, hula-hoops and more.

There will also be a series of events in M Shed's Square such as a Skates & Bikes weekend on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 June with demonstrations by Crucial BMX and Fifty Fifty and Urban Surfing with Wavegarden on Saturday 9 June.

Talks include a 'Club Life' themed talk by Bristol South Cycling club and Easton Cowboys plus advise from the Bristol Trails Group on how to create your own sporting venue.
M Shed will also be a host venue for Ping! Bristol.

Visit the What's on pages for full event information and latest details of the exhibition programme.
