Our team of museum gallery staff are here to help you
enjoy your visit to M Shed. Please ask us if you would like
assistance in finding your way around, locating services such our
café and toilets and if you would like to know more about the
gallery displays, our events and temporary exhibitions and other
services we can offer.
The collections on show at M Shed are primarily those of
the museums departments of Public History (with more collections on
show and in store at Blaise Castle House Museum) and Industrial
& Maritime History (more material in store in the L Shed store
adjoining M Shed with guided tours for the public offered twice a
week via M Shed). Curators in these two areas of the
collections are on site Monday to Friday and often at
weekends. If you would like to talk to a curator, perhaps to
offer an object for identification or for donation to the museum or
to tell us about your experiences of life in the city, please make
an appointment via M Shed reception.
In addition the displays at M Shed feature written
archives from the Bristol Record Office and museum objects from the
archaeology, art, natural history and geology collections held at
Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. Relevant staff for these
collections are based at these two sites respectively but again can
be contacted via the M Shed reception desk.
Learning and Communities staff are based at the M Shed/L
Shed site and again you can find out more by asking our gallery and
reception staff. For information on the service they provide
to schools please contact the administrator for that department c/o
Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.
Conservation and Design staff ensure that the collections
we display at M Shed are cared for and exhibited to the highest
standards. These staff are based at Bristol Museum and Art
Gallery but as always can be contacted by speaking to gallery staff
or by e-mail or phone.
